Barking buddhas is seeking off-leash pack leaders

Description

We specialize in off-leash dog walking adventures for active, athletic dogs, operating Monday - Friday in Oakland & Piedmont. This position offers the opportunity for an apprenticeship and the potential to purchase the business in a year or so.

responsibilities

  • Safely pick-up and transport dogs to and from hiking locations

  • Conduct 2 off-leash hikes per day - 2.25 miles & 60 minutes min. each, rain or shine

  • Ensure dogs are free of ticks, foxtails, mud, and dirt after each hike, including brushing them out

  • Develop positive relationships with clients through excellent customer service

  • Utilize Instagram to showcase the adventures and fun

  • Participate in quality, paid training on positive-reinforcement methods using a clicker and treats

  • In-home boarding opportunities for additional income

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills - responsive via text messaging and verbal, interpersonal

  • High-energy, positive attitude

  • Good fitness, athletic ability & health - to provide quality service to young, active dogs off-leash in hiking environments

  • Clean driving record

  • Vehicle such as van, SUV, or truck with camper shell is a plus

  • Experience in dog walking or training is a plus, but not required

  • Active on social media, preferably with a dog-related account is a plus, but not required

  • Must pass a background check and provide references

  • Interest in mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, or other mountain sports is a plus

Compensation

  • Wage / Salary based on experience, starting at $27 per hour and negotiable depending on qualifications and relevant experience
